I never worry about collection harassment.  If I happen to owe a few debts, I never worry.  Somehow, some way, I’ll pay them off eventually.  Worst comes to worst, I’ll win the lottery or something.  Don’t laugh.  It happens for some people.  Still, if bill collectors come around, I know how to deal with them.  Politely, but firmly, I tell them I can’t pay the bills right then and there and apologize.  Sometimes, I’ll be a nice guy and offer them coffee and a sandwich too.  Once, the FBI had set up a surveillance team to watch this house down the street and it was really obvious that it was their van.  No pizza delivery guy is going to stay parked down there for the better part of a week.  Still, I was nice and ordered them an actual pizza and came down a few times to give them coffee and sandwiches.  At first they were kind of upset, but then they were really happy that they were able to get lunch.  Surveillance can be long, tiring, and hungry work.  I’m just glad to help.  I hear John Wayne Gacy did the same thing when they were surveilling him.  For a serial killer who dressed up as a clown, he sure was a nice guy.
