LACK OF PREPARATION

I was practically scolded for my lack of preparation when I attempted to file for bankruptcy. I suppose that they were in the right, the new

Atlanta bankruptcy laws

shouldn’t be a mystery to anyone any more, everything officially went into effect over two years ago. Instead of doing the proper research to find out what exactly was needed, I asked someone from my office who I knew had been through a bankruptcy before to help guide me. The only problem was that her bankruptcy was filed in the latter part of the ‘90’s and the requirements are much different now than they were then. There are much more stringent requirements and there is a lot more documentation needed to file since the changes to the laws went into effect. You now need copies of everything: pay stubs, bills, tax returns, bank statements, any judgments against you, titles to any properties or automobiles – the entire process is different now that it used to be. I may not qualify at all, but I’ll never even get the chance to find out if I don’t get all of my documentation in order. I’m not even really sure if I’ll be able to find all of those things, but I’m going to start looking because the bill collectors won’t stop calling until I figure something out.
